OUR STORY 

 

A brand born out of Lockdown! When our sister coffee shop Brew & Bite was forced to close during Lockdown, Craig knew he couldn’t just sit back and found a creative way to help keep the brand growing. Taking inspiration from our time spent over the pond, he brought the iconic New York bagel to Newcastle!

 

Dot is the first of its kind in the region, serving sweet and savoury New York bagels with fillings that combine flavours of both exotic and local tastes. The vision was to bring something new to the Newcastle food scene by working with local suppliers and give a Geordie twist to the US classic.

 

Inspired by the Boston ‘House Special’ bagels we used to enjoy, we offer a range of flavours from Classic Rueben to Philli Cheesesteak and even a North East Parmo. During the lockdown, Craig was inspired to try something new to support our existing business ‘Brew and Bite’ and the local community. We began advertising on social media with Craig baking the orders himself and found a growing demand for local deliveries, such that we were selling out daily.

 

In September 2020, we opened open our first site (just a few doors down from Brew & Bite) on Chillingham Road and the uptake was phenomenal! All of our bagels are handmade daily on-site in small batches and are super fresh. We take care in our process and love changing people’s perceptions of bagels, with most customers not realising how good fresh bagels can taste.

 

In December 2020 we launched a pop up in Fenwick Food Hall during one of their busiest periods and are set to open on Acorn Road in Jesmond in early April. We are constantly adapting as our business grows and the whole team are really involved in keeping our menu fresh and vibrant. We absolutely love working with locals and have some very exciting collaborations in the works, showcasing the wealth of talent we have right here in the North East!
